I Heart Maroc is a one person show written and starring Azo Safo, I have personally known Azo for a few years and was frankly astonished at how much I learned about her in this piece. Never had a clue she spent two years in the Peace Corps, living in a small Morrocan village. But more than those bare facts, interesting they may be (and are), what I really got out of her show was how this experience shaped and taught her. Solo shows remain popular at the Fringe for often purely logistical reasons, and generally they fall into two groupings. One is a naked exposure of some kind of trauma or pain. The other shares wonder and joy learned, a delight kindled amid life lessons. Sometimes the two blend. I'd clearly say this one falls into ... full review

What an incredible show!! I fell in love with every character and I felt like I was there with Azo through the entire journey. It was a beautiful story as Azo moved with grace and intention throughout the entire performance. I could sense the many hour rehearsed and thoughtful development of every character and every scene. It was a beautiful message at the end and I'm so glad I got to experience this show! ... full review

LOVED THIS SHOW!!! I was taken back to times when I was a fish out of water and had the chance to leave or stay and in both cases, my staying was the right decision. Azo brought all of the characters to life in such a beautiful believable way. Loved the humor all through it. Loved the light touch on the political climate. Loved the light touch on the patriarchy. And Azo just looked like she was having so much fun, it was easy to have fun with her.... full review

Great performance ! Azo performs all the characters she met during her two years in the Peace Corps in Morocco, with sharp delineations of movement, accent, and personality for each character, getting sharply and precisely from narrator to character. There's also lots of heart in this story -- great show !... full review

Azo Safo has a crafted a stupendous show, both fun and endearing as well as educational. Her struggle to fit in is real, but her attitude toward her situation is always upbeat and uplifting. The amount of hope and ultimate selflessness was evident throughout, and the final message of living in the moment resonated strongly. At the core of her show, and Azo as well, is hidden in plain sight at the core of the show's title: heart. She fills the stage with hers, and it's hard not to have your own warmed after watching.... full review
