What I liked

I was very impressed with the use of large set pieces, impeccably timed stage blood, and a bone-chilling goddess puppet. Lead actress Jen Albert wears many hats, and all of them well—her performance as Boudica is incredible, most especially in the character’s darkest hours.

What I didn't like

The show description perhaps gives a little too much away; the content warnings are great and much appreciated, but the onstage show does a fine job of conveying the plot so there’s no need to disclose so much up front. I’m also not sure the label #MeToo can be claimed in the sense that it has been, since although the implied offstage events are clear, they are not the driving force of the narrative.

My overall impression

Easily the most elaborate and ambitious show I saw at Fringe, Battlesong of Boudica is an intense onstage spectacle that defies the limitations of Fringe theater.
