Regrettably, I feel this show was strangled by a ligature woven from Tomoko Karina’s hyphens, the writer-director-lead actress of the play. Now whether Ms. Karina is a master of all these skills, one or none, I cannot determine and will not guess. However, I can state that in attempting to exercise this trio of disciplines simultaneously she has defeated herself. ...

A beautiful, classic, tragic, warm, heartfelt Japanese love story that had me in tears throughout. The two leads have palpable chemistry and Yukari Black's performance was outstanding. Top notch acting throughout the perforance....

Saw this on Sunday 8/15. Really had a great time. Great plotting and touching story, beautiful production and even some truly graceful traditional Japanese dancing too. I really appreciated that the play showcases the period of Japanese history not many out of Japan know about. The costume work is superb too. Highly recommended for all history buffs and Japanophile and, let's face it, all the weebs who pretended they were samurai. You owe it to Japan to watch this!! And you know what, I promise won’t tell if it gets dusty a bit towards the end....
