Excellent acting and a surprisingly fantastical structure make for a neat twist on the character and story you may not have known but always suspected. And that wig. That wig is divine. ...

Really enjoyable and quick moving play. A lot of twists and turns that I was lucky to experience because I hadn't read much on what it was going to be about. ...

Imagine a fascinating nightmare--one of those fundamentally disturbing ones that blends all kinds of things in a weird brew of elements that somehow make kind of bizarre logic. Now suppose a nightmare more-or-less fostered by the challenge comedian Bill Mahr put out for Donald Trump to prove he was not the son of an orangutan.
Now imagine someone staging that nightmare. You now have Orangutan by Troy Deutsch. The whole thing takes the form of a monologue by Trump's mother (Kristina Mueller), recounting a weird upside-down history of alternate timelines and supernatural intervention in which the woman gets a glimpse of what her child will be/become. I ended up fascinated, horrified, amused, and often just challenged as my brain tried t...

Orangutan is cleverly written and terrifyingly hysterical. It’s the harsh truth from a close friend in the form of a joke, because if you don’t laugh you might cry. It is a must see. Ms. Kristina Mueller was absolutely phenomenal. Mueller is a true crafts woman with a beautiful storytelling ability. She takes you on a captivating journey with a unique perspective. Don’t miss it!!! ...

This show is an exploration down a strange and unique rabbit hole. It not only imagines aspects of the early childhood of Donald Trump, but adds a dark premonition and partial theory of how and why we ended up with him as our president. And it’s all brought to us through the complex psyche of his mother. It sent me on a thoughtful and emotional journey that I’m still thinking about, and will continue thinking about for the foreseeable future....

A tight and well-crafted show with a compelling actress at its core. The piece created its own vivid world, and did so just via Kristina speaking and some astute staging. ...

One of the best one-person shows I have ever seen. An remarkably sharp and surreal text is performed to hilarious, disturbing, and gripping perfection by Kristina Mueller, a major new talent on the Fringe scene.
An absurdist, almost Lynchian take on the woman behind the disgusting failure that is our current president. Comments on our modern conundrum without being political and holds a distorted but revealing mirror up to the us all. Above all, it succeeds at being an extremely unique and entertaining piece of theatre, that continues to take unexpected turns from it's simple amusing opening to it's devastating conclusion.
CANNOT RECOMMEND STRONGLY ENOUGH. ...
