What I liked

Great acting by the entire cast that showcases not only the emotional struggles that the characters are going through, but also treats the audience to seeing their physical behaviors – something many shows don’t pay enough attention too. Each character is fully alive on stage and it’s a pleasure to watch. I credit both the directing and the actor’s preparation for this. I was a bit worried beforehand that this play would be a bunch of talking heads – it was not. Kudos to director Matt Duggan for making great use of the small space, transforming it into various locations to serve the story and allowing the actors to fully inhabit each set. I was also impressed by the smooth, seamless transitions between scenes. Even though the play takes place in 1966, many of the themes explored are very, very relevant today, especially with the current political climate. You do not have to be a Beatles fan to like this show, just someone who enjoys a top-notch theater experience that will make you think. John Lennon would have liked that.

What I didn't like

Nothing – it was one of my favorite Fringe shows this year.

My overall impression

A well-written, skillfully acted and directed production about a transformative moment in the life of John Lennon. Highly recommended.
