The script was so strong, portraying very different characters each with perfectly drawn voices. The acting was excellent across the board, but I did get a kick out of the lead, who nailed John Lennon.
What I didn't like
Lennon was still a mystery, and I wanted more information about his life/inner world beyond the trademark ballsy confidence. By contrast, the book burning pastor scene felt out of place. I assume it’s part of the larger narrative of the play in its entirety, but in terms of a complete story in this iteration, I wanted more insight into Lennon’s side of the story.
My overall impression
Smart, thought-provoking and polished. I was thoroughly entertained.
