Powerful writing and great actors combined with familiar story structure and clever staging makes this a engaging, emotional, and (for me) educational show about health, social expectations, and how to deal with growing up in a world that doesn't like you for you. ... full review

The female experience runs DEEP and if you didn’t get that by the title, you will get it by the end of the show! ... full review

Crack Whore, Bulimic, Girl Next Door is a bold, gut wrenching and impossibly funny exploration of the tormented inner world of a depressed bulimic woman. The acting is raw, edgy and fearless. Sound grim? It's not. Marnie Olsons writing is so devastatingly self deprecating and honest that with a few dance numbers, a rollicking sound track, artful lighting by Joshua Silva, and fast paced witty staging by director Jenny Chun it all comes crashing together in this riveting entertaining one act roller coaster of a play. A warning: Do not feel badly for laughing inappropriately, the humor, like a healing beam of bouncing light is intentionally pointed at the darkest scariest parts of ourselves.... full review

Real, intense, comic, heart-wrenching and brave as hell. Marnie Olson cracks open her psyche and lets us inside. Relatable and courageous, this is one writer I want to know. Olson and director, Jennifer Chun are amazing humans and this work shows us that they are woke and paying attention--and not afraid to go for it creatively. ... full review

(I’ll preface by saying it’s practically impossible to type this without crying due to the impact this show had on my soul.) Everyone needs to get their tickets NOW to the final performance! To the entire CHBGND team, I was blown away. I had NO idea what this show was about. Going in, I cringed, slightly afraid I would be offended or uncomfortable (since I previously struggled for years with bulimia); instead I was welcomed by the brusque, matter-of-fact dramedy surrounding the conundrum of self-hate. Marnie Olson wrote a rollercoaster of a show. At points I was sobbing, and just when I thought I couldn’t take enough, a song-and-dance would sweep me away with a breath of comedic relief. Some of those (dark) scenes were direct moments ... full review

The writing is exceptionally courageous, the acting painfully honest, and the story outrageously real and funny. I laughed and cried and had an existential crisis. Crack Whore needs to be seen. ... full review

I’ve seen this show once before and it was still just as powerful and hilarious the second time! A brilliant job to the Michelle, Gloria, Elizabeth, and Jenny for bringing Marnie’s piece back to life! I wish I could see this show a thousand times more!... full review
