A country, a culture, falls into an easy narrative about a shared historical event and replays it until it becomes a rut. By now, we all know Watergate is a story about brave journalists and a corrupt presidency. Huge credit goes to Gangbusters Theatre Co. for breaking out of the narrative and mounting this workshop production of MEANTIME AT HOJO's about some of the people damaged most by Richard Nixon's paranoia: the Plumbers. Christian Levatino (who also wrote the play) delivers a performance of the Watergate break-in's architect, G. Gordon Liddy, that's as idiosyncratic as the man himself. Darrett Sanders deftly carries the moral center of the production in his portrayal of an uneasy E. Howard Hunt. As the doomed burglary begins, t... full review

Christian Levatino is an artist that I immensely respect, his passion and conviction are so fiercely evident in his work, and it makes the theatrical experience feel epic. With consistently snappy and witty dialogue, tons of historical nods, and immense stakes, Meantime at Hojo's is a thrill that must be experienced at this fringe festival. Don't worry if you aren't too familiar with the Watergate scandal, the play does a great job of giving you all the information you need. ... full review

Jesus. I mean.... look, I'd seen King Dick a few years back and I of course heard the name "Christian Levatino" bandied about in dark back rooms and whispered in men's room stalls at Awards ceremonies, but this was next level. Was it that the characters, dialogue, and acting was so believable, that the use of light and music was subtle genius, or that the eight men onstage used the words as a greasy surfboard to ride a potent dark wave of 70's paranoia? Probably all of it. Regardless, call me a new Gangbusters devotee. Can't wait for the next installment!... full review

We loved the show. Excellent writing and well cast. Christian Levitano (playwright & actor) enters and really excites with his wild presence as G. Gordon Liddy. The production is very creatively put together with video and music and cool use of light. This show is better written, acted and presented than most of the plays produced at major venues around the country. This play is so memorable, it sticks with you day after day, and deserves another production on a larger level.... full review
