What I liked
The live band music and the movement in the piece! The moments of dance and expression from the body was so cool!
What I didn't like
I felt that the show was a little too long. Perhaps if they was more movement during the parts where Maya Angelou’s words were being heard out loud, it wouldn’t feel as long. It just felt like the energy dropped for just a quick second and maybe the addition of movement could provide that transition and keep the show flowing.
My overall impression
Tameka is a fierce and strong performer. I loved the incorporation of Maya Angelou. It was cleverly used and the parallels between Tameka’s life and the words of Ms. Angelou was riveting to watch.
