I've experienced theater all over the world, from LA, to London, New York... I've seen blockbusters in the greatest of halls to shoe-string budget "productions" in secret holes in walls... I love live theater. Every now and then you come across something the makes you stop and say to yourself, right in the middle of it, "Wow, this is something special that is happening here. This is something important and new. This is real art." That happened Sunday when I saw " I Came to Make Nose". BRAVO! ~ Go see this.... full review

I LOVE this show. MUST SEE! It combines a visceral and raw reality with an embodied intelligence that speaks profoundly to women's experience. From the Fosse-ish movement in the beginning to the very contemporary use of hip-hop and popping (and with a live beat box sound track), this show will move you and create a continued sense of surprise. I identified with the experiences of being a woman, and loved the artistry. Good work everywhere.... full review

I love, love, LOVED this show! "A hip hop theatre feminist production"? YES PLEASE!! From the theme & content to the INCREDIBLE skills of all the performers, it was moving, heatbreaking, rousing - just a beautiful journey to be taken on from start to finish. This was dance & beatboxing at its finest & most effective. A 5 star production with a real & important message.... full review

I CAME TO MAKE NOISE previewed to a sold out house and excited audience, and the performance reflected this energy, in kind. Some of the performers emerge from within the audience, creating an immersive and inclusive atmosphere. Carrie Mikuls' viscerally feminine hip-hop choreography and political spoken word paired with the masculine baritone and mesmerizing beatboxing of John "Faahz" Merchant is a perfect blending in this politically moving and often humorous piece. Catch this show at the Hollywood Fringe and be prepared for an improv beatbox hip-hop dance off at the end! ... full review

Amazing!!! Carries choreography was on point. My favorite scene was a dance and spoken word piece commenting on the use of cell phones!!! That was so powerful and well executed, I’m not gonna tell y’all what it was you just have to see it!... full review

Through powerful, visceral body movements and dialogue (performed mesmerizingly by Brooke Ivory, Mariya Gordon, and Mary Polhemus) accompanied by a live soundtrack (NAACP Award-winning actor John “Faahz” Merchant impressively beatboxes throughout the show’s duration and Delante McCreary draws us in with his silky voice), "I Came to Make Noise" demands you to listen and encourages you to speak up with your story. This first time playwright and director is definietly on her way with this raw, urban dance piece. The story, dancing and beat boxing is a spectacular trio that makes for a wonderful fringe going experience.... full review
