LA Theater at its best. Feels like you’re discovering the next Philip Seymour Hoffman. Andrew Perez was made for Kinski— embodiment bordering on possession. His performance was high voltage electricity.
Going in I didn’t know what to expect. I’d only seen one of Kinski’s movies, the famous Fitzcarraldo, so I worried the subject matter might be too esoteric to appreciate. It wasn’t. The show was surprisingly easy to follow, visually captivating, and also very touching.
A sympathetic portrayal of an actor who was probably not easy to like or understand in real life. You walk out of the theater caring about the violent-tempered Kinski, maybe against your better judgment....

I felt that Andrew was riding a tidal wave of collected information about Kinski's life, like it was a bucking bronco, just hanging on for his life, raging from emotion to emotion, raw primal lust and power with all its highs and lows. It was quite an explosion of energy all throughout the show. ...

A lot of background work obviously went into this. The writing from Perez and the direction from Eric Johnson hone what could be a cathartic explosion into a dramatic piece of theater, whether you're familiar with Kinski or not. (If you're not, you'll be on Wikipedia and IMDb as soon as the ovation's over.)...
