The 80s setting didn’t particularly add to the show’s story, but it was certainly awesome to look at! It gave the show a little pop and vibrancy even before the dialogue started. And the acting was beautiful. Actors knowing exactly what and why they are saying what they are saying. I could’ve seen it again immediately after bows.
What I didn't like
The lights and sound were off a couple times, but that’s live theatre folks. The cast went with it, and the show didn’t suffer as a result. Even more kudos to the overall production.
My overall impression
A fantastic retelling, and a damn fine reminder to men everywhere that women are not to be trifled with. Everything moved along at a sharp pace without losing any of the refinement of the language. A standout performance by Chineze Enekwechi had me laughing at almost every line, but really the entire cast was wonderful, and the direction was spot on.
