The brightly-paced 55 minute cabaret-as-theatre, gleefully directed and choreographed by Janet Miller, is honest to its source. Mr. Sherman's ideas and wordplay (much as those of his contemporary Tom Lehrer) may seem a little precious from time-to-time, but at the SAME time allow the audience to enjoy cultural references and situations which spark an intelligent laugh, a caring sigh, and above all, a chance to enjoy three originals: Mr. Sherman, Ms. Poe, and particularly, the remarkable Ms. Waddell....

Every Fringe season someone resurrects the musical career of someone unjustly forgotten. My favorite: Jon Peterson as Anthony Newley 3 years ago---Magic! THIS year (so far) the crown goes to LINDEN WADDELL, who crosses genders to unveil the truly funny song parodies of Allan Sherman, forgotten even by me! She tells just enough of his life to cushion the show with context, but not TOO much! (A success in the Sixties, he died almost a half-century ago at 48!) The songs are sublime, and Linden does them with what we used to call "gusto"! Who would have guessed there was hilarity still to be mined from "Over the Rainbow" and even "Auld Lang Syne"? If you're a fan of smart, literate parody, do NOT miss it!...

Fresh & Funny. Entertaining and clever direction.
This was my third time seeing this show and it remains as fresh and funny as the first time I saw it. Sherman's lyrics are hilarious and so clever every time, plus there's always something new you didn't catch the other times. Linden Waddell is a superb performer with a great sense of fun and an amazing voice as well. So glad I got to see it again!!...
