Deity Clutch was a masterpiece. I was glued to my seat through the whole production. The beautiful language used and effective direction took me to another place all together. I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to reflect on such fine work. ... full review

“A genius of a writer … cast and direction were first rate.” - Larry Cedar, actor, “Deadwood”, “The Crazies” “This very original, interesting, layered, thought-provoking script provides a fantastic frame to the art that unfolds in front of your eyes in the theater. Every second of the show is filled with a scene that is intriguing and captivating and really gets you thinking. There are no dull moments at all. The cast, as collectively youthful as they are, appear on the stage as though they are veteran actors from the Broadway stage who have been doing this for decades. They are filled with such enthusiasm, drive, dedication, commitment, and passion, that one can't help but get swept up in the story that is playing out right before t... full review

Language like Beckett, mystery like Christie, fun like no other; this amazing production begins intellectually, builds emotion upon emotion, and hits it's audience viscerally by final curtain. It is a fascinating amalgamation of several genres: mystery, romance, farce, even science fiction as post-apocalyptic setting. There is also an air of Holocaust drama as it creates an atmosphere akin to "The Diary of Anne Frank." A joy to watch! Had me on the edge of my seat til the very end and left me wanting even more! Great cast, great script, great experience! ... full review

My God! It is as if Shakespeare was reborn and chose the name Gus Krieger. This intense show, in my mind, can only be described as Midsummer Night's Dream meets 28 Days later! A masterpiece.... full review

Tony Frankel, theatre critic with Stage and Cinema here. This is one instance where mention of performances and plot will serve no useful purpose to substantiate my opinion. While playwright Gus Kreiger may be having a lexocological field-day with his new play Clutch Deity, his thesaurus-consulting word play becomes the undoing of his post-apocolyptic tale - for although we are smitten with how much fun he is having with the English language, the verbosity trumps story and character development. Interestingly enough, I entered the theatre ONE MINUTE after the show began and spent the entire first act wondering how the author disseminated all of his exposition in that first minute. The style, at first, is decidedly theatre of the absurd... full review
