My overall impression

If you had any doubts about him before, Shakespeare’s Last Night Out (or What?, You Will??) solidifies Michael Shaw Fisher’s place as a Hollywood Fringe institution. In his brilliant one-man show, Fisher chronicles The Bard’s last night carousing at the tavern, where he holds court and attempts to claim and solidify his legacy, silencing any doubters about the authorship of his works, before shuffling off his mortal coil. The show, a biography of Shakespeare and chronology of his plays, comes off as accurate and very well-researched, and is full of brilliant references to the Folio, tying Will’s many works to the events in his life that must have inspired them. But this is no ordinary, dry, common bioplay. Nay! This is an Orgasmico show! Full of wit, whimsey and a whole bunch of kick-ass songs! MSF’s fingerprints are all over not only the story, but the catchy music that I still find myself humming days after the fact! (“Kick ’im in the stones! And kick ’im hard!”) My only regret was that it was over too soon. Don’t miss it.
