Drunk in the back of the bard.
Well. This show is incredible. You will laugh, you will cry and you will learn! I am still reeling at the dizzying display of knowledge and craftsmanship that went into the script alone, not to mention the actor who performs it. Michael Shaw Fisher absolutely embodies The Bard and you will forget you aren't really watching Shakespeare himself. MSF transforms himself before your eyes as he tells the captivating story of William Shakespeare's life in an incredibly imaginative way. The music was wonderful, the use of space was fantastic and the show amazing. See this now!...

Ever wish you could sit and chat or hold court with a person from the past? And maybe enjoy a drink or two while doing it? Well Shakespeare's Last Night Out is perfect show for you! Sitting in an small bar you are transported back to the late 17th century with the help of two wonderful musicians as you walk into the side of Three Clubs. Upon entering you get the feeling that the man laying passed out on the table is someone you can't wait to hear spill his drunken knowledge. And would be correct as that is Mr. Shakespeare himself, who through the process of an hour or so takes you the journey of his life. Utilizing the whole space, you learn about his family, friends, and enemies during Victorian England. I'm not sure what I enjoyed more, wa...

Michael Shaw Fisher is a killer and I absolutely fell in love with him! So much fun and such talent as a writer and performer. It could be a three act play and I’d sit there gladly. Go see anything he does, you won’t be disappointed. Dang I wish he wasn’t married....

Bravo! I have to say this is in the top 5 shows I've seen at Fringe this year. The writer/solo performer is delightful on stage. I loved that he worked in the audience and a few times his musicians who were spot on and in period costumes to boot. I do have some Shakespeare knowledge so I think, some things were easier for me to understand than someone without prior knowledge, but even some of the material was over my head. The writer is obviously well versed and intelligent when it comes to Classical literature and this show is a wonderful treat compared to some of the other garbage seen at this fringe. It's a shame that this and other shows here at Fringe (that are way above their league) are forced to share in the basking light of othe...

This show is really something special. I was drawn into the world from the second I walked into the theatre with the light folk music being played by the live band. A solid piece of writing, and brilliantly executed by Michael Shaw Fisher, who is utterly magnetic onstage. Clever lyrics and complex, yet catchy melodies make this show a joyous experience. You don't have to be a Shakespeare lover or expert to get this show, but it does help. Very glad that I had the opportunity to see this. I haven't seen an audience snap to a standing ovation that quickly in a long time... and it was WELL deserved....

I was blown away by the sheer talent on display for this piece. From the acting, to the music, to the singing, everything comes together in a sublime mash of irreverence and fun. I absolutely loved walking into the show with Shakespeare already on the stage, passed out on his table. Immediately set the tone for the entire show and told me I was in safe hands as an audience member. Little did I know that I would be part of the show as Michael Shaw Fisher creates characters out of his spectators. The entire thing was a delight and I cannot wait to see it again. I give it my highest recommendation. ...

There's no point in my reviewing this show, because I feel it's all been said. Words like "brilliant," "funny," "touching" (I do wish he'd stop touching me), "intelligent," don't do the show justice. And as a huge Bardophile, I was not only blown away by MSF's performance, but by the way the script can be used as both a captivating story and as quality argumentative material for the authorship debate.
I heard about this "Michael Shaw Fisher" guy last year when he was winning all those awards, and now that I've seen a few of his works, I get what all the hullabaloo is about. Please send me my fan club membership card and 8x10 glossy....

Great fun. Fisher is a wonderful performer and writer. His "Shakespeare" is spot on. An additional plus is catching all references to the original Shakespeare's plays and poems, but you don't need to be a scholar to have a wonderful time at this show....
