Since most of us will probably not leave Earth's orbit in our lifetime, I'm gonna go ahead and say this is probably a comparable experience. As far as the AWESOME factor goes. What a cleverly written show! And all the characters are so distinct, not only in "helmet-color" but in speech and physicality. And the references. The references! Nerd-vana. I love sci-fi and Classical literature, and this show hit e-ver-y-thing. Even Contact. Contact! I had a blast. And now I should probably actually read Moby Dick... Well done, Charles!...

Smart. Savvy. Entertaining. Clever staging. Kept me engaged from beginning to end. Sci-Fi geeks and literature buffs alike will easily find common ground here. I *loved* this show. ...

While I really appreciate the effort put into the show, and while 1/3 of the jokes were great, 1/3 were boring, and 1/3 were just bad. It's a shame, too, because there are some great and hilarious moments. The Star Trek and 2001 references were fantastic, but the entire opening was spent on a log entry premise with a computer harping on an issue with the date. There was no content, and it just didn't work. Other jokes, like a space radio station, where you would hope for SO many great tunes (Bowie, Elton John, The Beatles, Shatner, Nimoy, The Killers, Kraftwerk, etc), settled for Drops of Jupiter. Lame. They could have gotten better results googling "best scifi rock songs." The Alien bit was just sad. There was even time wasted on a joke abo...

This is an amazing must-see show! Since I had the (sad) privilege of attending the last show in this run, I can only say "like" these guys on facebook.com/charlescomedy
follow them on @charlescomedy so you can be notified when they mount Moby Alpha again. Rumor has it Charles Comedy will also be performing in Venice July 11th. I'll post my (more detailed) review here when it's done, but meanwhile - if you're a Fringe voter, vote for Moby Alpha. If it gets extended, SEE IT!! One day, you'll be able to boast to all your friends that you knew they were going to be HUGE when they were just a couple of hapless (brilliant) guys doing their thing in the Hollywood Fringe...

The two-man comedy group Charles has made a clever work here: resetting Moby-Dick in space while at the same time parodying well-known science fiction films like Alien, 2001, Star Trek, Star Wars, etc. ...

This show was so awesome! These guys are really smart and polished. I was very impressed with the writing and the whole thing was just hilarious. My only regret is that I went on closing night so I can't go again. Can't wait to see more from them!...

The show was far more cerebral comedy than I expected...and
It was funny--very fast paced with marvelous use of the electrified helmets and a well balanced dialogue between the two comedians who switched roles with lightning speed. Their verbal sound effects also contributed to the changes in a minimal set and often were part of the humor.
So where does this take us? Some of the sci-fi references are overt and over the top, such as the players ability to tele-transport with multi color effect of the helmets...and some of the parody is not cerebral but falls into the campy or goofy range...but draws laughs nevertheless...an example is the distress call by another ship where the only survivor has been attacked by space aliens and has a (...

Quite possibly the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Even if I find something funny on stage, I'll be one of those weird patrons who will politely titter. But, really, "Moby Alpha" made me guffaw multiple times. More than that. Fairly non-stop. Charles is amazing, and the staging of the piece never made confused once as to who was playing who and what was going on. One of the best experiences I had at the Fringe....

You don't have to be a nerd to enjoy this show , but it doesn't hurt. The Charles create a group of characters intertwined in the story of Captain Ahab and sci fi movie blockbusters. They don't just go for the low hanging fruit. Thoroughly entertaining....
