Linden Arden Stole the Highlights was absolutely fantastic. Creativity pours out the edges of this beautifully written and performed piece. Colin Mitchell does an amazing job with connecting to the audience immediately. The breathtakingly descriptive storytelling brought the audience into the characters past. It was hilarious, sad, and incredibly entertaining. A must see.

Colin Mitchell has resurrected a one-person play he first staged in 1996 and has dusted it off for a remount at the Hollywood Fringe Festival during its fifth year. Written and performed by Mitchell, and directed by Christian Levatino, "Linden Arden Stole the Highlights" tells the fanciful first-person tale of a man now pushing 50 who, for a handful of years, became enmeshed in the street drug trafficking scene in post-Hippie San Francisco. While it starts off a little slow, Colin Mitchell easily picks up the momentum leading down the road to the horrible incident that causes Linden Arden to become an outcast in his little Scottish town. Despite the downtrodden nature of the man himself, Mitchell infuses a good deal of humor and play into the telling so that at the end you sympathize more for the man than you are horrified by his crime. "Linden Arden Store the Highlights" is a powerful story, told by a strong storyteller....

To be utterly transported by a theatrical experience that resonates long after you’ve left, IS the holy grail of experience that we all seek to find when we enter a space outside our own reality. Colin Mitchell’s one-man show, Linden Arden, is that rare theatrical gem that combines the jagged underworld of iniquity with the poetry of survival and dignity. A supreme performance by Colin, profoundly transforms the song this show is based on into a story of human survival that is gripping and magnetic. This is unsurpassed storytelling that you must not miss!

Mitchell breathes life into Arden by way of a lively, compelling monologue. Supplying the voices of the various characters he encounters, he paints a colorful picture of Arden’s milieu, from the mean streets of San Francisco to the bucolic highlands of Scotland....
