I marvel at the way Marnina and Micah interact with each other. They engage in such infectious banter that it is impossible not to fall head-over-heels with both of them. When they aren’t speaking, the singing is just at a superior level. The harmonies are as luscious as their impressive musicianship.
To that point, the new batch of songs that they’ve created for this show are so clever and witty! They really do need to get these on Spotify ASAP.
A few of my favorite songs include the following (which I’m guessing on the titles): “Once a Week,” “Folk Marry Kill,” and "I Love You (Because You’re Gonna Die).
What I didn't like
I hate to nitpick something so wha-wha, but given the “rules” of Fringe, it was not cool that the show started 10 minutes late.
My overall impression
Happily for the HFF, Couplet (like a tender chicken cutlet) did it… again! They (Micah and Marnina) are back doing what they do best, sharing their married journey together through music and songs. And if you were lucky enough to catch Couplet’s “Honey Honey Moon Moon,” you’ll be grateful to hear that in this humble critic’s opinion, “Folk Marry Kill” is even BETTER!
Get ready to laugh uncontrollably, listen intently, think a lot about death and love, and… play a riff of a game adults like to play with friends. All in all, a truly unforgettable comedy & variety act that only they could create!
