What I liked
The whole concept of an alien learning to communicate with humans to fix a problem.
What I didn't like
I wish either the audience interactions were cut or every eventuality was considered beforehand. Because she asked the audience questions and whatever the answer she felt overwhelmed by the answer and didn’t know how to incorporate it into the show.
Also maybe get hoops that don’t light up. Them constantly breaking and her getting flustered by the interruption didn’t help the flow of the show.
My overall impression
Hoop is a simple idea. It’s part clown, part mentalism, and relies heavily on audience interactions. I’m still trying to figure out what the show was about, what hole was meant to be filled and if she’d gotten the audience interactions she wanted, how would it have been different?
The audience participation parts did not go the way she wanted in the performance I saw and there didn’t seem to be a plan for how to continue the show with an audience that didn’t react the way she wanted. It felt a lot like she was waiting for us to tell her how to do the show. Or to tell her what it was about.
