The music is expertly crafted. The best sound support I have heard in any Fringe venue ever. The Activist Kitchen is a space that really cares about its sound. There were no standouts in the cast, and for a show like this, the ensemble feel was the most important thing and I think they nailed it.
What I didn't like
It was a little tight for some of the staging, particularly the fight scene that had an actor bumping against patrons. It was exceedingly warm in the space, so I would alert my audiences to come with a personal fan or cold beverage to help keep themselves cool.
My overall impression
This is the best pure music experience I have ever had at Fringe. The a cappella arrangements and performances were outstanding. There was just enough plot to string the sea shanties together into a serviceable plot, but the music is the draw. It is a beautiful evening of a great musical form. The intimate environment of the Activist Kitchen really made you feel a part of the production. These are a group of fantastic singers, and you should go have your mind blown by how good they are.
