Boyle Heights, California, in 1939. Juan, a 20-year-old Mexican male working at a market and delivering groceries is spotted and pursued by NAZI Silver Shirts vigilantes that violently seize Mexicans and Jews to remove them from this country, as declared by the laws. Desperate to find a place to hide, Juan tries doors and finds one unlocked, diving in. It’s the threadbare single-room apartment of Michael, a 65-year-old white man, a veteran of the Spanish American War. When Michael returns to his apartment and finds Juan hiding in a corner, his first instinct is to force him out at gunpoint. He is faced with a moral dilemma and chooses to protect his unwanted guest. Stuck for a few days in the confines of the small apartment, the two bond through their different cultures and experiences, and each ends up saving the other. The story is based on historical facts.
