Although very different, the two plays complimented each other and having them set in a cemetery is mysterious and poignant. I thought all of the actors were great and worked well together. I especially loved the character of the deceased mother, played by Annalisa Erickson- brilliant in every way- in the first play and Rebecca O’Brien and Michael Dempsey’s characters in the second play…hysterical visual when they come out from their romp in the leaves! I thought the second play was really creative and a fun way to deal with some heavy themes.
What I didn't like
I think I wanted names on those gravestones. That would maybe distract from the performance, but I just wanted not blank stones.
My overall impression
A small town cemetery is the perfect canvas for these two plays. Though the plays are very different, their themes are similar….those of life, death, regrets and hopefulness. And also the more devastating effects of mental health, racism and addiction. Can you recreate your past and heal the wounds that have plagued your life for years, even decades? All of the actors were great and worked well together. And I LOVE me some Our Town! Thank you for bringing that creative take on one of the best plays ever written!
