Hilarious and riveting - I loved every detail of these two people, as they waited for everything to happen in this space, whether it was the cockball filling the toilet, or the next order arriving in the ingeniously-designed dumbwaiter. Abrams and Grollman are an amazing pair and the piece was one little joy after another. ... full review

Love this show. I'm embarrassed to say I have never seen a Pinter play but I'm glad this was the first one I saw. Wonderful production with 2 immensely talented actors. Phil Abrams and Jim Grollman had such great chemistry and perfect timing. After the play i was thinking about how magical theater is when you can have 2 talented actors in an almost bare stage and they make you believe that you are in that basement. Highly recommend.... full review

So VERY enjoyable, the pacing was perfect, the slapstick hilarious. 2 veteran, incredibly likeable actors, one naive and childlike, one the alpha male who we depend on to navigate the existential crisis. And one dumb waiter that isn’t so dumb. BEAUTIFULLY DONE, don’t miss it!... full review

This adaptation of Harold Pinter's THE DUMB WAITER stirs up a brisk cocktail of tension, disturbing noises, mystery, alienation, absurdity and comedy, garnished with a chilly wedge of menace. Phil Abrams and Jim Grollman ace their roles as two contract thugs simmering with frustration in a claustrophobic apartment that seems to fight them every moment. Pinter's classic is a challenging play to mount, but, in DWNYC, Abrams and Grollman have created a stage work greater than the sum of its angry, funny and agitating parts.... full review

I’ve been a professional actor in Los Angeles for over twenty years, and after a while you think you’ve seen everything. Great actors. Great writing. Great productions. It gets harder and harder to be genuinely surprised. DWNYC surprised me. I walked in expecting to see a smart adaptation of Harold Pinter’s The Dumb Waiter. I walked out feeling like I had spent an hour trapped in a basement with two men whose lives were slowly unraveling right in front of me. From the moment you walk into the theater, the production starts working on you. The eerie, eclectic house music immediately creates this strange feeling that you’re leaving ordinary life behind and stepping into another world. By the time the lights come up, you’re already lea... full review

This production is an adaptation of Harold Pinter's The Dumb Waiter, relocated to 1970s New York. I am a fan of Harold Pinter's work and I appreciated the opportunity to see this classic brought to life on stage. The play's tension, ambiguity, and dark humor remain intact. The performances are solid, and that feels to be the main focus of the production. Two actors produced this project and that is respectable, I am loving the emergence of classical works at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. For those who enjoy watching revivals and/or classic works, this provides an enjoyable evening of theater.... full review
