CAROL M. BECKER the larchmont buzz certified reviewer July 01, 2025
Talisa Friedman's play, So Baby, is a slice-of-life dramedy. The play showcases three unique freshman roommates, each dealing with her own set of issues. First, there is Miri (Emily Hope Turner) who is the Jewish, eager-beaver, boy-crazy, academic talker. Joining her is Jordyn (Ciara Cain), the independent, strong-willed, Black Student Union participant. Finally, there is Roksana (Diana Malota), the Russian model who uses any tools in her tool-belt to advance in life. In most triangle scenarios, two will gang up against one. While there are plenty of scenes that have Miri talking with each of her roommates separately, ultimately, she and Jordyn join forces to get Roksana removed from school. ... full review

I thoroughly enjoyed the final performance of Talissa Fridman’s SO BABY this evening. I was captivated by the intricate dynamics of the relationships between the roommates. It was Miri, played with earnestness by Emily Hope Turner, who truly embodied the glue that held the girls together and propelled the story forward. ... full review

This was an amazing show that had me laughing all the way through, even when things got emotional. I loved getting to know three completely different girls and having all my expectations of them subverted. I’d recommend this show to anyone who loves to laugh and has experienced complicated friendships.... full review

tagged as: Bad boring cringy
It felt like a very claustrophobic show - the play takes place over a period of more than 50 days, during which the viewers finds themselves trapped in a room listening to pure nonsense; 9 scene cuts that completely disrupt the rhythm. The script is rather mediocre, the direction flat, cringy and predictable, and the only notable performance is Diana Malota in the role of Roxanna.... full review

Loved this show! Entertaining, hilarious with a hint of nostalgia for our college days. If "John Proctor is the Villain" was set in college, it would be like SO BABY!... full review

I found it very to understand what the actors were saying. Ibelieve that they should have been using microphones. I heard the audiance laughing, but I never heatd the punch lines. MY wife had the same experience.... full review

Overall the play was very entertaining, funny and seamlessly transitioned. For it to have one setting in the dorm room, the script made it now feel like we knew more of their lives outside the dorm room.... full review
