Utterly charming from start to finish! Musicals at Fringe are extremely hard to do and this team pulls it off with major success. Structurally, the book is close to perfect and I love the themes explored. The crowd was hooting and hollering as characters make pivotal decisions to stand up for themselves in an attempt to break the social norms and establish gender equality within the video game industry - a workplace known for its toxic masculinity. The songs perfectly capture that 80's power anthem vibe with keeping true to its broadway musical style roots. An exceptional new musical! The cast were stellar in their roles and their voices blended together beautifully. The opening number was a distinct highlight. The music was brilliantly composed and reminiscent of Jonathan Larson. The book and lyrics created memorable, fully developed characters who you wanted to root for and who you became invested in over the course of the show. The creative use of set and sharply executed choreography made excellent use of the fringe stage. I would love to see a bigger production of this show!... full review

“One Up: The Musical” is a marvelously hilarious delight from start to finish. The book and lyrics are wonderfully woven with heart and humor. The characters are distinct and dynamic, each elevating the energy in their own unique way. The music is all amazing with the full gamut of ‘80s synthwave sounds on glorious display. The audience was clapping along and laughing loudly throughout. From the choreography to the costumes, the show is super dialed in and I hope everyone gets the chance to see it!
