Coming from a place of true, complicated love and understanding, Jersey Devil is a story about a man man hopelessly immutable in his destructive patterns, becoming a vortex of chaos for anyone unlucky enough to be in his vicinity. But like... in a hilarious way, not a Streetcar Named Desire sort of way.... full review

This one-man show was absolutely phenomenal. It kept my attention the entire time and made me want more. I’m not a huge laugher but Hal had me laughing out loud throughout the entire piece. Just brilliant how he was able to take such a dark story and make it hilarious and captivating. I am so beyond impressed and am very excited to see where he takes it next. ... full review

A hurricane of Hal comes at you non-stop in this hilarious and introspective look at, just one example of specific insanity, we are learning seems to be emblematic of this bizarre world we all have been thrust into. Through all the twists and turns, Hal's shrewd exuberance ebbs and flows, as he recounts one shocking memory after the next; luckily we are all laughing too hard to delve too deeply into the damage done perhaps, by well-meaning, but very flawed parents. Maybe the point is, it's this kind of damage that can be refined, and eventually, merged into an authentic and beautiful appreciation for life. ... full review

What an amazing show! Hal’s are a phenom on stage. A master performer that took us through an epic epic story. absolutely blown away by every single element of the show. the story was insane obviously but I think it cannot be said enough that his charisma is what made everyone in that audience feel safe to laugh with him and that is a true gift.... full review

The first word that popped in my head after: riveting. My jaw was on the floor for the entire show. Hal channels his father in an astonishing way. I could have listened to two more hours of these stories. And ultimately, it's a beautiful, cathartic and compassionate story of a veryyyyy complicated father.... full review

Hal's energy, wit and charisma rae top-notch! He had us in devil dad's palm the whole show. Great writing, performing and directing! How did he live thru that hideous parenting, and end up such a kind person?! And I don't even really know him! The generosity he shows around the fringe scene really shows up on stage - and I loved it!... full review

He pulled it off y'all. For a show with content that could have easily leaned it another way, Hal manages to turn "tragedy" into comedic GOLD. It's not a trauma play. It's not therapy on stage. It's a hard, honest, and HILARIOUS look at the man that raised him. Thanks for sharing this with us Hal. ... full review
