What I liked
So many things were just spot on wonderful for this show! It must begin with the writing which was absolutely hysterical! Each of these women is so well defined and that is a credit to the charismatic dialogue.
Moving on to Sidney’s portrayal of her family, all I can say is that this lady is born to perform! Her character work is completely transformative. From the way the relatives speak to how they move and relay information, every detail is crystal clear.
This show is directed with such passion and knowledge that I am tip my hat to Coolie! His staging, use of costumes/wigs/props, and video transitions all make this solo show truly one for the books.

I cannot think of anything I’d do differently. This show just works.
My overall impression
Pay attention, please, class is in session for the masterful Ms. Edwards! This solo show is an absolute triumph for writer/performer Sidney Edwards and her co-writer/director, Byron Coolie! Their A+ efforts collide in a fun-loving tribute to both of her Grandmothers (Carolyn and Grace), her Mother (Terry), and her Aunt (Coletta). Even 8-year old Sidney appears to start the show on her school bus.
All the relatives that Sidney portrays in this 50-minute show happen to work at the same school in various capacities. These women share important life lessons with Sidney all while highlighting the importance of family, love, and celebrating the good times.
As Sidney finishes her report on interviewing her family, the show reaches its touching conclusion. A myriad of photos and home films of the actual relatives is projected on screen. This concludes class and sends the audience off to recess to bask in Ms. Edwards.
