I just saw Just To Be Close To You and I can’t stop smiling. This one-man clown show was absolutely hilarious, moving, and full of heart. From the very first moment, he had me in the palm of his hand. With a perfect blend of comedy, vulnerability, and pure theatrical magic, I was truly wooed. He played with the audience so naturally, weaving laughter and tenderness into every moment. There was real love poured into this show. You could feel it. Every bit was crafted with care, and yet it felt spontaneous and alive. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, completely swept up in the joy of it all. The best show I have seen in a long time. Cam is an absolute genius, and a perfect clown. Funny and vulnerable, and so playful. I couldn't stop laughing, and had so much fun being part of the play. He has a rare gift of taking in and responding to every moment, and wins over your heart as soon as he steps on stage. I would watch this show over and over again, and could never get tired of it. Um. I can't believe this show? It was....Perfect? Magical? Stupid? Hilarious? Heartfelt? How dare you. I remember seeing this work in progress and knowing that Cam was onto something amazing. I couldn't wait to see it at fringe and it not only lived up to my expectations but surpassed them by miles. This show is an utter delight, and watching Cam be a level 10 dingdong on stage alongside his brother "Song Boy" may be my favorite thing on earth. This is a show that is not to be missed.
