Richard Lucas tries to hide behind his formidable wit to entertain you with a story of city loneliness, loss and redemption, but his words can't help but immerse the audience in his reluctant vulnerability in this simple tale of a man, a dog and an old lady next door.... full review

Richard Lucas does a beautiful and heartfelt adaptation of his book, "The Dog Log." Richard kept us engaged the entire time with his dry humor and sincere vulnerability. ... full review

This was a fantastic one person show. It was funny, heartfelt, ironic and very, very well written. I'm not sure I've ever seen as sympathetic an audience for a performer and it comes from the piece. He really makes you feel as if you're living through the experience with him.... full review

This was my first show of the HFF25 . Sometimes you take a deep breath and go to a show to support a great artist and a friend. I had no idea Richard was much more than this. He was able to hold my attention with great wit and charm in his delivery of this story. How interesting could a LOG be? Very interesting in the hands of an able bodied Wordsmith and former English teacher. It was a great time and Bruno had his fingerprints all over this performance. Recommended... full review

I went into this show having read the book. So as a fan of the book already, Richard's performance of (this abridged version of) his masterful work only enriched the story further, bringing his beautifully detailed scenes to life in a very intimate setting. His performance was funny, charming, raw, and emotional. And for those hearing The Dog Log for the first time, you will be treated to a hilarious & moving story that touches on so many aspects of life that we all struggle with.... full review

Richard Lucas brings you into his existence in a very endearing, engaging show. Quite funny, surprising, and touching. I hung on his every word, working to catch my breath from laughing while fighting back tears. It's an authentic and revealing tale of events with raw emotions, humor and horror; bringing great sympathy and interest from those who witness. Bruno Oliver's taut, unimposing direction presents a lean but joyous experience. ... full review
