Having never seen plays before, I was very curious to see how this would play out. It was honestly a very true and interesting perspective on what it is like growing up mixed in America. They addressed a lot of relatable issues for feeling displaced in your identity amongst other issues like passive racism and expectations from others. I feel that even if you’re not walking in the shoes of the character Didi, you’re still able to understand the tones and moods of these situations. This play hit very close to home. As a Filipino American growing up in the white neighborhoods in Chicago, IL, there was moments in be play where I felt like I saw myself relive my childhood to adolescence. ...

I’ve known Dee (Didi) for years and the highest praise I can give My Tiger is this is one of the most raw and authentic lenses into someone’s life I’ve ever seen.
The vulnerability, courage and drive to create a show like this should be celebrated and I couldn’t be more proud of what this cast and crew has accomplished.
I highly recommend that anybody that seeks art that gives a deeper human connection between audience and author watches this show.

My Tiger was excellent! I personally did not relate, but I did bring a friend who did and they reacted viscerally. I think it was thought provoking for both myself and my friend. I think this show did a great job of providing a window of insight into an experience that not everyone faces, and a mirror to those who do experience it to feel seen. ...

My Tiger unfolds like an autobiographical theatre piece, tracing the life of Didi, a Chinese mixed-race man growing up in America. But this is no mere memoir — it's a piercing exploration of identity, belonging, and the cultural fractures that lie beneath the surface of a multiethnic society.
In a country like the United States, where communities are diverse yet often deeply divided, the need for communal bonds becomes critical. And it is precisely within this space that mixed-race individuals like Didi wrestle with dual (or fractured) identities. My Tiger captures this tension with striking clarity.
The structure of the play is refreshingly inventive. Young Didi and grown-up Didi often share the stage, weaving together past and presen...

My Tiger resonated deeply with me as an Asian American. It brought to the surface things I’ve rarely dared to say out loud, experiences that are personal, but shared by so many in our community.
One moment in the play that struck me was when Didi, is asked, "Where are you from?" by a white person, a question I, and many other Asians in America, have heard too often. Despite living here most of my life, I still struggle to answer it. I’m never quite sure what the person really means, or why they’re asking. Is it curiosity? Is it something else? And why does it feel like the question itself pushes me further from belonging?
The play also captures how easily acceptance can turn into rejection. Didi gets along just fine with his white peer...

An important piece about an experience that is not usually portrayed, "My Tiger" tells the story of Didi, a mixed-race boy growing up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Unflinching, honest, and surprisingly funny at times, "My Tiger" is a slice of life that isn't here to provide answers, but rather questions to think about. ...

An honest and unique approach to storytelling. Dionysus took the concept of a one-man show to another level with this project. In this production, Didi tells us of the experience of growing up as a mixed race boy in the U.S in the early 1990s and how that shapes him to who he is today. Throughout the show, he comes out to share context, pieces from a memory, and then has actors live them out through a series of vignettes. This is an insightful and enjoyable show. ...
