What I liked

Izzy’s boundless charm worked to a tee. He clearly knows how to work a stage and even at a “late show,” he kept the audience fully rapt. I found myself trying to figure out how the magic tricks were working, but I also needed to stay wrapped up in the narrative. It was a fine balance that worked well.

What I didn't like

Keep playing with the theatrical form, pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Izzy knows exactly what he’s doing, carefully placing tricks within the show to keep the audience guessing. But what happens when things don’t go according to plan? I’m curious to see what happens when he breaks out of the established constructs and invites in more unexpected chaos.

My overall impression

Do Better juxtaposes personal narrative with magic in a way that ultimately has the power to heal us all. It’s vulnerable and theatrical all at once. Izzy is a self-professed “theater kid” and it shows! He uses all of the stage with clear purpose and effect. The magic isn’t just sleight of hand, but an embrace of the limitless potential within the theater.
