Jon Gentry (he/him)

Actor, Writer, Storyteller

Jon Gentry (he/they) is a playwright and performing artist whose credits span theater, film, television, and gaming. Their work explores the search for “Home.” What is it? Where is it? Are we ever truly there?

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Jon infuses his art with a tri-coastal (East, West, and Gulf) perspective on Black queerness in the US. His award-winning solo work has been presented at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, PlayGround Solofest, Whitefire Solofest, Out Front Theatre, Provincetown Theater, Santa Monica Playhouse,  WeHo Pride Arts Festival, LA LGBT Center and One Institute. He gained viral recognition as the voice of Preston Garvey in “Fallout 4,” with his memorable (and meme-able) performance.

As a teaching artist, Gentry has collaborated with The Moth, Young Storytellers, Get Lit, and the Los Angeles Performing Arts Conservatory. Invited to the inaugural GLAAD Black Queer Creative Summit, he is a storyteller who thrives at the intersection of truth, artistry, and innovation.

MFA: American Conservatory Theater BA: Harvard University. Member of SAG-AFTRA, Actors’ Equity Association and the Hollywood Fringe Artist and Access Boards.
