Me Love Me was the first original play I've seen in a long time and I could not be happier with the choice. It was unpredictable, fun, heartwarming, and entirely unique. The play centers around Tuck Whitney, brilliantly portrayed by Benjamin Durham. He manages to encompass that vapid, self-obsessed Angeleno character that anyone could recognize if they've lived in LA for more than 5 minutes. Tuck is the perfect blend of charm, arrogance, and insanity. Sto Strouss as Cluck had a adorable naivete about him. He nailed the delivery of a man-boy with an inquisitive nature and a childlike wonder. His wardrobe was also very entertaining. Then there is Lizzie Adelman as Gemma. Me Love Me is a beautiful comedic play with a twist. In a fun wild romp it analyzes the stereotype of the LA actor, and rewrites it into a tragic ode truly defining of our times. This show also plays around with the ideas of forgiveness and second chances. In this story enough truly is enough in the end, the main character will not have that typical happy ending. Okay, I admit it. I've been living a lie. I claim to love live theatre, but it's nearly impossible to get me to a show because I've so often been burned by mediocrity. That's why "Me Love Me" was such a breath of fresh air as well as a great first show of my 2013 Fringe experience. The actors navigated all of the twists and turns in the story with aplomb, and I appreciated that all three characters were flawed and even seemingly unredeemable at times. There were times when I wanted to shout at the stage, but only because I was so lost in the world of the play that I felt like it might just make a difference if someone from the audience yelled, "seriously! don't do that coke!" I'm not easily entertained, but "Me Love Me" kept me chuckling for a straight 90 minutes. The play is crafted with wit but at the same time hit home, at least for me, in a personal way. I could relate to the protagonist's, Gemma's, character. While the play was funny throughout, I had a lot of built up tension because of my empathy with Gemma. When the play took a satisfying turn at the end, I literally felt my body relax. So satisfying!... full review

This was my first Fringe show this year and it was a fun and hilarious way to start off the festival. Heartfelt performances by all three actors, and the script provided many a chuckle for the audience. An insightful and comedic look at drug abuse, codependence, and narcissism. The script is a delight - full of wit and flair - and the show is brought to life by good acting and solid direction. The show is fun and heartfelt. A lovely night at the theater.... full review

A witty and creative script was undercut by stale direction and unconnected actors that didnt seem to be reacting off each other at all, but rather waiting to say their line or do their prescribed blocking.... full review
