What I liked

Samantha does a phenomenal job setting up the barriers she learned early in life and breaking them down, and fades seamlessly between teenage storytelling styles and her own reflections years later. Her story captures perfectly the sense of searching for identity and the sadness of indigenous tribes in the US, showing not just the violence towards first peoples you learn about in school, but also the bleak, continuing, invisible violence against peoples, communities, and the land itself that has followed in an inescapably real way, as well as the virtue of their wisdom, community, and hope. One of the most important shows at this year’s festival.

What I didn't like

Not one damn thing. This is such an important piece. Thank you for sharing this story with us!

My overall impression

What an enchanting and thought-provoking piece! Samantha is an entrancing storyteller, and the atmosphere she sets and the relative emptiness of the stage keep your focus squarely on her. The story is by turns charming, unexpected, enlightening, and at all times thoughtful, presented by Samantha in an enveloping, vulnerable, and emotional fashion. Just a brilliant performance! Do not miss this!
