Phenomenal show all about a party gone...existential. It feels like a show for Disney Adults that are more adult than Disney. Very well written and well performed. Skylar is a brilliant writer who i felt came at this from personal experience (or at least the experience of her friends). Amanda is the star of the show and she portrays the party princess character well. If you ever had parents who tried to organize a birthday party, its kinda like that. Party Princess takes you on an emotional ride. It tells the story of a “party princess performer” who is at the breaking point of her career and life. Amanda Kuo is so dropped into the character that you truly feel like you are watching this person experience this princess party. She is funny, heart warming, and truly digs deep into your soul. Her expressive movement completely draws the audience in. Amanda conveys similar emotional depth to that of Richard Gadd’s character in “Baby Reindeer.” In addition to the stellar acting performance, the direction thoroughly sets up the “party princess” vibe with audience interactive devices and impeccable lighting design choices.
