Given the overwhelming scope of Peter Jackson’s trilogy, doing this as a one-person show with minimal set pieces was a stroke of comedy genius. And a little audience engagement never hurts, and in appropriate and well loved spots to boot! I’m impressed by his careful mimicry of accents and separation of characters with the same, and his facial expression mirroring is outstanding as well! I can’t wait to see how far in the trilogy Riley takes this outstanding labor of love and comedy.
What I didn't like
I love this entire concept. Riley and Cole are the geniuses behind this—I’ll let them decide.
My overall impression
What a joyride! Riley presents a real labor of love, managing to parody LOTR while faithfully quoting and describing it—and even adding a little deep context about cameos and behind the scenes knowledge! Doesn’t matter how well you know Lord of the Rings, I promise you’ll love this!
