clown play beautiful
George says what all of us soft animals feel. Being a human, being an artist is god damn vulnerable! He puts his insecurities on display in this beautiful exploration of self in a magically playful clown show. His self doubts come to life through the evolution of animals and his self criticizing characters. It is personal it is universal. We are all just soft animals evolving and doing our best. His through line of "we are allowed" hit me hard! We are allowed to be here, and do what we love, even when we doubt it. I giggled, I screamed, I cried. I felt seen as a human and artist. ...

A fun filled, childlike, and whimsical examination on the story of everything. George uses physical comedy deftly to take us from the beginning of life, as a quirky, curious one eyed amoeba all the way to a disappointed father of modernity! An encapsulating clown show, that left me ready to build a fort with blankets, and nourish my inner child. ...

Soft Animal has so many fun play elements that kept me entertained. There's silent/mask/eyehole play and idiot bits and the whole show has such a nice fun sweetness throughout....

This was one of the most earnest performances I've seen at the Fringe this year. It's about evolution, humanity, and the artist journey. There is something so relatable the way George navigates the mess he makes on stage, like we're all working with what we have, trying to make the best out of it. It was very sweet and tender, also very funny and clever. ...
