My overall impression
Alli’s love and acceptance of her deceased mother’s quirky and dark imperfections exudes a realness any audience can connect to. Miller doesn’t fall for the storytelling trap of romanticizing the life of her lost parent, but rather celebrates these imperfections through her own talents of charm, humor, vulnerability and yes, even song. An honest tribute to the mourning process, a loved one and the mess that they may leave behind.
