The way in which Phillip stepped the audience through the red flags in several popular children’s books showed us (in a very logical way) why these books could potentially be damaging to the self-esteem of children. I also like that Phillip teaches with humor, yet adds elements of poignancy, and sometimes even pathos, to remind us of the importance of the message of his story.
What I didn't like
Nothing. The version I saw was great for adults, ages 18 and over. My only suggestion would be if Phillip considered possibly writing a PG version of this show that could be shown to children.
My overall impression
Phillip’s show, “Lessons From Children’s Books,” is so well-written (and performed), and has such a great message. It’s a healthy, new perspective on what we’re really teaching kids through children’s literature.
