Such a fun, funny show! Phillip is a hilarious performer and obviously a really good writer too because the jokes throughout are well constructed and conceived. I learned a lot about the TRUE meaning of beloved children's books and laughed a ton along the way. ... full review

Philip portrays this wacked character named Timmy as a vehicle to offer a young gay man's take on the wonky world of adult sexualities. His sense of humor is spectacular as he riffs on the subliminal messages gleaned from children's books whilst dodging some pretty weird-ass offers. ... full review

A charming takedown of children's literature expertly blended with stories from the comedian's real life. Phillip's point of view led to a delightful roast of storytime classics that had me laughing the whole time. ... full review

Lessons from Children’s Books is a funny and poignant commentary on the stories we hold so dear from our childhood. It’s a strong concept that I can see serving as the foundation to a comedy special one day. Give me all the red flags (just to call out with a cute prop I promise) ... full review

Lessons From Children's Books is a valuable lesson in judging books by their covers. Darkly funny, sweet, and heartbreaking, Phillip Reilly does a superb job of putting us back in a school assembly. His descent into these stories is wondorous, not to be missed.... full review

You need to see this show. If you are reading this review right now, find a ticket first and then come back. This show was one of the best shows I have seen in a long time; finding the easiest way to blend very original humor with such genuine and vulnerable personal stories, all packaged in a school assembly I never wanted to end. Phillip impressed with fresh joke after joke, and keeps the audience guessing what's next with each time he invites us into his past with him. This was something that felt so truly unique in a way I can't describe in any other way than you have to, have to, have to see this show for yourself. ... full review
