What I liked
The hobgoblin headquarters felt like the perfect place for this show to take place, as the structure of the building lent itself to a lot of playfulness! The unity and coordination of this team really shines through the production. LOVED Rachel Troy as baby stuck in the beautiful void of the curtained off blackbox space with all her toys. Such a haunted maze type of way to engage with her absurd confrontational show. Truly frightening and engaging and powerful! The intimate shows with the small audiences really made the experience feel weird and wild.
What I didn't like
I wish there was even more time and room for deeper connective lore between the acts and why they were there in the complaints department headquarters. Maybe in the future this structure could be evolved into an even longer show.
My overall impression
Wow I had such a surreal and fun time in the Complaints Dept. walkthrough experience. The planning and coordination that went into this piece really shows – it felt like journeying through an absurd dimensional building with strange new beings trapped behind each door! We were efficiently shuffled between rooms, inside and outside and through hallways by the hilarious and charming guide and delightfully dry and cryptically confusing Box Office person. I loved all the performances and got a kick out of them not really solving any of our complaints – just comically hearing us out!
