This is a beautiful and thoughtful exploration of identity, culture, and tradition through storytelling. You don't have to be an immigrant or the descendant of immigrants to appreciate this show. Definitely worth your time....

Here's the thing, this woman is a courageous actress.
This story is personal, the audience senses that from the beginning. And Abha takes us by the hand as she introduces us to one character after the other in a playful, empathetic and human way. She helps remind us that everyone has a story, we're all around the campfire sharing, and it's important that we never let go of them. ...

The Fairy Who Cried Gems filled my spirit and took me away in ways I didn’t see coming. Lily is a magical storyteller who seamlessly weaves heartbreak and doubt into a triumphant collection of folktales inspired by the real experiences of Indian women who grew up in the United States. An inventive way to provide life lessons for younger siblings in the form of a beautiful show of self discovery and identity. Based on her experiences as a kid, Lily creates fairytales/fables to guide her younger siblings to an easier way of life and growing up. Lots of laughter and tears, that spring to your eyes in a surprising way because you realize you are her and she is you. Beautiful....

To serve but not to dream…the tale of the fairy who cried gems was truly written as an aside in another’s story. Outside the stories of the fish, firefly, and baker, the fairy’s perspective outside of what was written about her truly became the heart of this one-woman show. The lighting cues and changes really made the show and helped all the scenes make sense. Lily’s versatile acting range and expressions are apparent. It was easy to stay engaged throughout the whole thing. I believe this show is a must-watch in the Fringe circuit. ...
