Some really sharp, funny shorts. Each, in its own way, did a good job of defying expectations and pulling off some really nicely executed twists. The standout for me was "A Case on the Aside" directed by Kelly Coughlin. A great little noir-spoof with the terrifically deadpan Adam Briggs, supported by the pitch-perfect Heather Lynn and Madeleine Miller. Worth checking out for this entry alone, though not the reason.... full review

STRONG hit upon the realities of female friendship, complete with Gilmore Girl-esque dialogue, while bringing us into an intriguing and heartfelt world--how do young people, who do not yet have families but are too old to be cared for by their parents--manage serious illness. ... full review

How to be Lazy and Not Feel Guilty

The kind of show fringe is all about! It doesn't follow any rules or conventions, and says exactly what it needs to say exactly when it needs to say it, even if it has to interrupt itself in the process. Dark, but not caustic, the show constantly mixes hope and desperation, and the result is something I think everyone in the audience could relate to. ... full review
