Thom Pain: Based on Nothing

'Oh what a paradise, living in fear...' Solo plays are not easy feats, and they're largely not for audiences unwilling to invest their attention; short of a full-on intentional stand-up routine they typically demand more of those watching. For audiences willing to engage they can be a real treat. As a streamer I was jealous of those there, in person, because that was the experience I wanted to have. That said, there were merits to the online experience. Most importantly, though, Loviska... full review

This is a great way to knock out 30 minutes while you’re enjoying Fringe that also provides some insight. In a lot of ways this is a sort of ‘ideal’ Fringe show, in my mind; an avant-garde playground that offers some legitimate mental sustenance. I recommend it!... full review

Comic-Con the Musical

I’m very impressed with what this ensemble has pulled off. This is just so much fun. There’s a reason this show’s selling out and that reason is fairly won. Particularly for geeks like me COMIC-CON THE MUSICAL offers a loving and breezy reminder of why being a nerd is a fine thing. (much longer review with the link!)... full review

Full disclosure here: I've known Michael Kass for some years, so a gush from me is certainly biased. That said, if I didn't thoroughly enjoy his piece I just wouldn't have written a review. Like Chekhov or Shakespeare, if the story is executed with anything less than deft skill the audience will be bored and/or confused, or even activel... full review

The Time Machine Musical

Some of these reviews have entirely missed the concept of what a tech-heavy preview night is. When the director steps on stage and spells out that what you're about to witness is essentially a rehearsal, an audience needs to set an appropriate level of expectation (in my opinion). I thought this was a clever and very fun musical. Understanding that there were serious sound issues (and the issue of what we saw being a condensation of what would otherwise be a 2 hour show), I personally believe... full review

I was fortunate enough to see Kimleigh's show some time back when she performed for Evolve Cinema at the Bravo Cucina venue. She really stunned me. Then I got a chance to see her show again last night and I have to say, "GO SEE IT NOW!". This show is a roller-coaster that had me in stitches and sincerely touched (both times I saw it). One of the strongest bits of storytelling I've seen out here, sincerely.... full review
