Manson's Girls

This show has a lot of potential but had a long way to go. The cast were wonderful and talented and I hope that this script continues to develop. In it's current form its a great deal of unrealized potential. ... full review

Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde

Goddamn this show is funny. Grinstead is strong as the titular leads but Stromberg steals the show as everyone else. Managing to balance a dozen other characters with speed and deftness. A great comedic spin on the victorian classic. ... full review

The Death of Eurydice

I walked in seeing this show as a space filler and found in surprisingly engaging for such a short show. The actress playing Eurydice brought a beautiful naivety to the role. As she realized that Death was upon her. The actor playing the oarsmen is the sort of person you would want to meet in the afterlife, compassionate without being saccharin. Between the two the interplay lead to a wonderful thought experiment on the Orpheus myth from a different perspective. ... full review

Mary's Medicine

The show was incredibly strong. Mary Secoles story is told with remarkable efficiency without losing any emotional impact. The script and direction are both emotionally strong and at times very funny. A treat of a show. the use of modern characters as storytellers proved strong in its use as bookends to the show. ... full review

DYSTOPIA

This show is hilarious. It's a rare group that can carry a full and cohesive plot from start to finish off the top of their collective heads. Dystopia takes the very popular YA dystopian genre and makes a mockery of it's tropes. And while being a spoof manages to be a cohesive and engaging play on it's own merits. ... full review

Nothing Bad: A Werewolf Rock Musical

zachary johnson-dunlop · June 17, 2017 certified reviewer
The show was a rollicking good time. The 50s camp ties the show to a timeless cultural reference point that is a great stepford like setting for the town of Perfection. This "place out of time" aspect mixes well and at times poignantly with very real problems that we are much more aware of today though sadly still somewhat insensitive too. The show is funny and the music memorable.... full review

Trixie: The Musical

zachary johnson-dunlop · June 17, 2017 certified reviewer
Hands down the best show I've seen in this years fringe. Trixie manages to be uproariously funny and heartbreakingly poignant often at the same time. Decker has put together a fantastic show that starts out seeming like a light hearted farce but quickly reveals itself to be a deep and introspective look at mental illness. The show manages to be funny without ever making fun of the characters which is a balancing act few can achieve and even fewer can master. Trixie, masters it. SEE THIS SHOW... full review

Maddy's Famous Friends

This show is barely managed insanity. And I mean that in the best way possible. Phantom and Cheedo lead a group of contestants from other fringe shows on a nickolodeon-esque journey following the wacky tongue in cheek adventures of the main players. Not afraid to call out the insanity they have wrought for what it is, the hosts engage the audience with almost as much frequency as the players and will leave you laughing your ass off.... full review

SHAKESLESQUE (To Thine Own Cherry Be True)

zachary johnson-dunlop · June 11, 2017 certified reviewer
Cherry Poppins has been called Fringe Royalty and they earned the title yet again. They have raised the bar from previous productions and they had already set it well above head height. The show manages to go from a hilarious and riotous sex comedy to a heart breaking tragedy all the while treating the audience with an endless stream of reimagined pop music, and dick jokes. This company has taken their usually stellar shows and upped their game even further. This show is amazing. ... full review
