Most recently, Brighid Fleming, was seen as the young love interest Eleanor in Jason Reitman’s film Labor Day, which starred Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin. In 2013, she became the youngest thespian to win an individual ovation award, for her role as a never-aging nine year old courtesan, living in the Victorian realm of a virtual world in the world premiere of Jennifer Haley’s award winning “The Nether,” at the Center Theatre Group’s Kirk Douglas Theater in Los Angeles. Although she was the only child in a cast of five actors, she held her own with such stage veterans as Dakin Matthews and Robert Joy. She also appeared at the Geffen Playhouse in Wait Until Dark with Alison Pill and Mather Zickel. She landed therole of Titania in the BAFTA-LA produced, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” with the Inner City Shakespeare Ensemble. Although Fleming is an Equity member, 99 seat theatre has a special place in her heart and she is very concerned about the position Equity has taken against intimate theatre in Los Angeles.
Fleming began acting when she was just three years old after going to New York with her family and watching Broadway and off-Broadway productions. She asked her mom to put her in theater – starting off in Kiddy Theater, but the budding actress quickly excelled, moving on to adult classes. Fleming was first seen on stage in the play production of “Into the Woods” and then in a production of “The Pillow Man” at the Vortex Theater. Fleming’s skills go beyond the stage and can be seen in a variety of television and film projects. Fleming has a recurring role on Disney’s “Dog with a Blog” as ‘Heather,’ the mean girl. She has guest starred on such hit television shows as “Criminal Minds,” “Saving Grace,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Awake,” “CSI Miami,” and “The Mentalist,” but is best remembered for her portrayal as the young Seer in “Once Upon a Time.”. She can be seen in films including Lionsgate’s "The Burrowers,’ Warner Bros’ “The Eastmans,” and the independent films “The Sacred” and “Purple Mind.”
A testament to Fleming’s will was showcased when she, at 8 years old, upon overhearing two men talking on a plane about the need for a young girl in an upcoming film, handed them her headshot. As a result, Fleming booked the role of ‘Delia’ in Lionsgate’s "Gamer” opposite Gerard Butler, Kyra Sedgwick and Michael C. Hall.
At the age of 11 years old, Fleming executive produced, directed, wrote and starred in a short film titled “A.B.S.” The short film caught the eye of many and quickly made its round in a variety of film festivals including the Lighthouse International Film Festival, the California International Shorts Festival and the Santa Fe International Film Festival with wins at the Albany International Film Festival, the Best Shots Festival, the Women’s Independent Film Festival, The Film Festival of Colorado, and was televised to an audience of 700,000 cable TV subscribers in the Tampa area during December, 2012.
Curently, Fleming is studying cinematic arts, and hopes to one day work for the BBC. Of Celtic descent, she grew up in Albuquerque, NM and in her spare time she enjoys roller derby, surfing, and rock climbing.
