The Mayor's Debate of Tranquility, Nebraska

This is the funniest show I've seen in the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Writer and star Jim Hanna continues to be one of the best comedy writers out there. His jokes are always set up well beforehand and pay off beautifully while the story unfolds. This show is so much more than a simple Mayors debate in a small town. I won't ruin it but it goes to a place that was totally unexpected for me, and that pushed it over the edge into something really great. Highly recommended.... full review

Pit of Goblins

This show is FANTASTIC. Definitely one of my favorites of the 2019 Fringe Festival. "Dark comedy" is a term that's thrown around a lot, and Pit of Goblins takes the phrase all the way to the very edge... and then pushes it into a pit. (yes of goblins). This show has genuine laughs and times that were so sad the audience didn't know what to do, and it all worked perfectly. From the opening moments where the main character is dragging a body out into the woods to speak to his therapist, I knew I wa... full review

Meet Me In Mizzery

Lindsey Mallard is a next level comedic character actress, and she gives some of the funniest solo performances I've ever seen on stage. She EXCELS at creating characters that have just had enough of your shit... and I laughed out loud the ENTIRE time while she performed them. ... full review

Batter Up! My Brain on Baseball

Do you know anything about baseball? It doesn't matter because Brett Moore will know EVERYTHING about the game for you. All while being funny and charming at the same time. Batter Up! My Brain on Baseball is more of an experience than a show. Brett casually shows off his love for the game and his amazing memory for its history in a show that I kept saying "wow how does he do that?" Highly recommended. ... full review

An intimate single location show that only hints at its Sci-fi and fantastical elements that surround it. I love that the show remained grounded with these two characters instead of veering off into crazy land (which it could have easily done). ... full review

Livin' the Dream (a journalistic journey)

Bob Leggett is such a genuine soul, that I couldn't help but fall in love with his story. I'm always fascinated by people who have lived a nomad lifestyle going from place to place because its the opposite of my own experience. Bob has found himself from the military, to world class music venues, to the renaissance faire, to the Fringe Festival. He takes us to all these places with DOZENS of pictures to back him up. I loved seeing the people and places pop up behind him as he was talking, it rea... full review

The Narcissist Next Door

This show features the biggest A-Hole I've seen so far in the 2019 Fringe Festival. I mean that as a compliment in the highest sense. The hilarity that comes from the title character is made all the more real by the fact that everyone in the audience (especially in LA) knows someone EXACTLY LIKE HIM. Luca Malacrino plays the Narcissist character brilliantly and I laughed through the whole thing. This is the funniest show I've seen so far in the Fringe. ... full review

If We Run

This show is like staring straight into a relationship. These characters have a past, present, and future that we can get simply from watching their interaction on stage for 60 minutes. Writer Matt Morillo created dialogue so rich and detailed that I felt like I personally knew the two leads by the time I walked out of the theater. They were simply "Brian" and "Rachel" to me. ... full review

Supportive White Parents

An incredibly charming, funny, and touching musical. Joy Regullano is the lead character who sings, dances and even manages to play the violin on stage while she's at it. The whole cast gets involved in every song, we get slower ballads, funny show stoppers and even a rap section. Music is done by the terrific duo "Sam and Tony Show" (Tony Gonzalez & Sam Johnides) who themselves are Fringe vets doing my favorite musical a few years ago "Annabella". Joy is the heart of the show however and she bri... full review

Red, White, Black & Blue

This is acting at its purest form. I went in not knowing much about what this show was about and ended up being blown away by the performances of the two actors, Adam Meredith and Blaine Vedros. This is a very simple show by design and it lets the actors literally live with audience for 30 minutes at a time. It's two, one act plays where each actor gets the stage to themself and they both deliver. My favorite thing about the Fringe Festival is seeing shows big and small and being surprised and ex... full review
