STUPID SONGS!!

Just awesome. I had the WORST day at work before I went to she the show. The music and comedy uplifted my spirit and reminded me why I go to live theatre. This fast-piece musical troupe keeps the laughs coming with clever songs, wonderful costumes, talented singers, and skilled musicians. There is nothing Stupid about it. Go see it and take as many people with you as you can. They will thank you for it!... full review

Shakespeare's Last Night Out (or What? YOU, Will??)

I was blown away by the sheer talent on display for this piece. From the acting, to the music, to the singing, everything comes together in a sublime mash of irreverence and fun. I absolutely loved walking into the show with Shakespeare already on the stage, passed out on his table. Immediately set the tone for the entire show and told me I was in safe hands as an audience member. Little did I know that I would be part of the show as Michael Shaw Fisher creates characters out of his spectator... full review

Boss: The Untold Tony Danza Story

So I wasn't a huge Who is the Boss fan growing up (I know sacrilege) but you don't have to be to love this irreverent show. It moves at breakneck speed and the laughs keep coming. I loved the video montage (usually a no no in theatre but it worked perfectly here). Boss: The Untold Tony Danza Story is a wonderful send-up and homage all at the same time. Kudos! ... full review

Intense! I am still thinking about this play and I saw it a week ago! I had to take some time to let it soak in. Benjamin Schwartz is a talent. I loved the way he incorporated the title into his piece. You could tell a LOT of thought went into the casting as the actors physicality, demeanor, and acting style created conflict and dissonance that culminated in a explosive resolution. If you love Tarantino you will love this play. Go see it. ... full review

Sleeping Around

This play definitely left me wanting more. Stories involving sex can get mired in the easy score of titillating or shocking without purpose. None of that happened here. The vignettes were a thought provoking treatment of social mores and also how sex can play out in unexpected circumstances. The actors perfectly complimented each other. I really enjoyed this and would give it my highest recommendation. ... full review

I Died...I Came Back...Whatever.

Whoa! Right out of the gate you know you are going to have to be prepared for a ride since the main characters basically immediately dies. Thankfully death cannot stop our heroine or her story. I lost count of the number of characters this talented actress regaled us with. Physical challenges create the backdrop of a unique outlook on life that I was honored to learn about. Cyanne has no fear and attacks her story with confidence. Her story, and her telling of it, will stay with you. ... full review

Thumb Wars

This short but sweet commentary on modern dating was a treat. The show I went to experienced technical difficulties at the critical juncture but the actors played on, turning a possible shipwreck into something to be admired. Sean Boring wrote a tight, moving exploration commenting on that although things can change we all share the same insecurities as our parents and their parents before them. How we all act out our intentions is where the meat is and Sean has created four distinct character... full review

5 Sirens: Beware of Rocks

I really enjoyed the varied viewpoints from these talented playwrights. My favorite vignette started the entire play of with a high bar. Kiera Nowacki's wonderful piece on finding common ground between two seemingly opposites left me wanting more. I can't wait to see her chops on display for a full production. Her assertion that 'baseball is a lifestyle' is not only true, but a perfect vehicle to show how all of us try to express ourselves in the things we enjoy. Bravo!... full review

The 7th Annual One-Man Show World Championships

So I have seen this show three times and I would go again. Hilarity doesn't just ensue, it dominates your soul via the aggressive stylings of the contestants! The writing is grand, the actors perfectly cast, and even the tech nerds of the world get to vicariously experience their deepest fantasies. This show satirizes one man shows, which by their very definition dance on the edge of self-absorption. Jim Hannah gleefully pushes the genre over this edge while cleverly laying out his viewpoint ... full review

BEYOND - Unemployed. Finally.

Wow! Heather's different characters and voices kept me laughing and smiling throughout. Her unusual story had me thinking the entire time. I loved the section on the NAVY. I won't spoil it for you but as someone who never served I can respect her service while at the same time laughing at her realization of what that meant for her at the time. You can tell that Heather put in the work as she seamlessly transitioned between so many people, jobs, and locations that it is a miracle she can keep th... full review
