Just on the heals of the epic FX series "Shogun", we have a new slice of Japanese history live and onstage. Tomoko Karina and Ensemble Tenshi give us the first half of a fascinating true story of a royal princess in 16th century Japan who becomes a mistress of the warlord responsible for the deaths of both her parents. Tomoko is larger than life as Princess Chacha doing whatever she has to do to survive and prosper in the brutal "game of thrones" era of Japan. A large talented cast supports the s... full review

A thoroughly entertaining and enthralling one-woman show about a singer-songwriter from the 1950's whose flame flickered ever so briefly and then disappeared from history. Quite literally. This drama drew me into a pivotal point of world history that I knew nothing about: the twilight of "El Jefe" - the dictator that ruled the Dominican Republic for over 30 years. I found it fascinating and compelling. To quote Wikipedia, his rule "is considered one of the bloodiest and most corrupt regimes in the Western hemisphere." ... full review

Yes this show leaves one feeling "haunted" - haunted by the life of a brilliant man who could not survive his dysfunctional family, his schizophrenia and the broken healthcare/social welfare system that could not help him. A great script, a great cast and an ingenious set design combines to create a fabulous theatrical experience. Go! Let yourself be haunted in the best way possible.... full review

I was pleasantly surprised by the depth and quality of the music and lyrics by Melanie Rose Thomas. Outstanding performances by the leads, Bianca Gisselle and William Max Schneidermann, whose voices blend beautifully together. Though there were some rough patches, I could see beyond the no-budget production and visualize it on the Broadway stage. It's that good! It's not hard to imagine the orchestration and sets and extended dance segments. This show is going places! Kudos to the direc... full review
